FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert SRT to VTT?

Paste your SRT or VTT content into the converter above and click Convert. The format is detected automatically. Copy the result or download. SRT and VTT use similar timestamp formats; the main difference is the WEBVTT header and comma vs period in timestamps.

What is the difference between SRT and VTT?

SRT (SubRip) uses a simple format with numeric indices. VTT (WebVTT) is used for web video and has a WEBVTT header. Both support the same timestamp format (HH:MM:SS,mmm). VTT also supports styling and positioning.

Does conversion preserve timing?

Yes. Our converter preserves all timestamps exactly. The only changes are format-specific: SRT uses commas in timestamps; VTT uses periods and adds a WEBVTT header. Your subtitle timing stays identical.

What about ASS format?

We currently support SRT and VTT conversion. ASS (Advanced SubStation Alpha) has styling, positioning, and effects. For ASS, use a dedicated converter or our full platform for advanced subtitle workflows.
